Infrared (IR) is light outside the wavelength that humans can see. This makes it a hidden lighting option that is invisible to the human eye, but can be read by the camera sensor and converted into a clear black and white image.

Infrared is divided into near infrared (NIR), short wave infrared (SWIR), medium wave infrared (MWIR), long wave infrared (LWIR) and far infrared (FIR).

Infrared LED arrays are usually used in the surveillance applications to illuminate dark scenes, integrated with visible light cameras to achieve 24-hour surveillance in 0Lux total darkness and not limited by light.
